AWS re:Invent is always a big deal in the technical community. 40,000 people will descend on Las Vegas hoping to learn all about how AWS can transform either their companies or careers. Selfishly as part of the VMware Cloud Provider program, I hope some of that 40,000 are coming to see how Service Provider + AWS + VMware can re:Invent (pun intended :)) their cloud strategy.
In the last few years, VMware Cloud Providers have embraced the multi-cloud world. From the outside looking in, it seems like an obvious strategy. In the technology world when something becomes a truth it is always hard to remember how we all thought 3-4-5 years ago. In today’s world, we understand that not all workloads are created equal, and customers need all types of cloud and managed services to meet the business needs.
VMware has massively increased its stake in the multi-cloud world with VMware Cloud on AWS and a suit of other high-value offerings on cloud.vmware.com. VMware Cloud providers are using these new tools to augments their current offerings to offer something unique to the market. Imagine the complexity of an enterprise running web content and mobile apps on AWS that have to sync back to a physical stack of SAP HANA while at the same time providing access to thousands of end users working all over the globe. This complexity is where VMware Cloud Provider shine. They allow companies to focus on what truly differentiates them in the market and not worry about MPLS vs SDWAN, COLO vs Private Cloud, etc., etc. Even in the Enterprise is a software company the business stakeholders want 100% of efforts focused on software delivery.
Good news to re:Invent attendees VMware Cloud Providers will be at the show and ready to talk about adding fuel to their companies transformation. If you are at re:Invent to further your career, VMware Cloud Providers are uniquely positioned to offer broad technology exposure and exciting opportunities.
Here is what I know so far for VMware Cloud providers at re:Invent. If I have missed anyone, please comment and I will append.
